To the outsider, translation may seem like a pretty straightforward profession: you have a text which you convert into another language. What many people don't realise, is that within translation there are many different specialisations that all use specific terminology and require a specific approach. Legal translations, for example, can be a bit like a puzzle, with long sentences that contain a lot of information that somehow all needs to be reproduced in a logical order in the target language. For marketing translations, what is most important is to get the message across, so it's often better not to stick too close to the source text and to

play with words until you strike just the right chord.

So why is it that we love medical translations, and specifically translations for clinical trials?Apart from the fact that we find it fascinating to see how the human body works, we also like to think that our work contributes, even if it's only in a small way, to the success of the trials we translate for, hopefully leading to better treatments and support for patients. We all put a

little bit of our heart in our medical translations, hence our slogan: A heart for medical translations.
