Meet the Team: Jolanda & Katrien

In the world of translation, there is often very little personal contact between translators and their clients. With MTEC, we found it important to introduce ourselves here on our blog, so that you can get to know the people who handle your translation projects a bit better. In today's post, we would like to introduce you to Jolanda and Katrien.

My name is Jolanda Bijl.

With over 25 years of experience as a medical/pharmaceutical translator English-Dutch and French-Dutch, I specialize in translating clinical trial documents, ensuring accuracy and clarity in every project. My interest in learning about new treatments and medical advancements and understanding various diseases drives me to stay updated in the medical field, ensuring that my translations not only meet linguistic standards but also convey the nuances of the medical documents accurately.

Recently, we have brought together a team of expert medical translators, each specializing in the clinical trial field. This group now provides a single address for all your clinical trial translation needs, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and reliable translations across a wide range of languages.

Outside of my work, I enjoy swimming, reading and dancing ballet, activities that keep me balanced and inspired.

My name is Katrien De Clercq.

As a teenager, I was instantly convinced of my love for languages. As maths and physics were not my cup of tea, the choice was easy and I went for a master in translation Dutch-French-English, with Dutch being my mother tongue. And that seemed to be a good match.

However, at the beginning of my career, I took a different path. I started working as a secretary in a catering company and after a couple of years I became a member of the HR team. But the passion for linguistics came back and so I decided to give it a go and become a freelance translator in 2006. I have always been passionate about medicine and everything that was involved with it. Moreover, my dad is an MS patient for about 35 years now, so I was very eager to learn more about diseases, treatments, solutions. And what can give you more fulfilment than contributing to the development of new treatments with the knowledge that people who possibly have no more options of getting better, could be helped in the future.
